Wenger not keen on Monaco

WENGER-ARMS LONDON, England, May 12-Arsene Wenger has dismissed links to the manager’s post at former club Monaco after reports suggested he was being eyed as a replacement for the under-fire Claudio Ranieri.

The Arsenal boss’ future at the Emirates Stadium has been under the microscope after a delay in the proposed extension of his contract.

It has since emerged that the big-spending Ligue 1 outfit were unhappy with their trophyless campaign under Ranieri and were looking to bring back Wenger, but the Frenchman has since rejected the reports.

“I wish Monaco well, but there is no interest there,” Wenger told the BBC after Arsenal saw off Norwich City 2-0 on Sunday afternoon.

This weekend’s season-ending clash at Carrow Road saw the return to action of midfielder Jack Wilshere, who the Gunners manager believes can pass fit for the upcoming World Cup.

“The World Cup is one month so it is plenty of time (for Wilshere),” he added. “He can play now so it just shows you that there is no problem with him being available for England.”

The 22-year-old could get another run in Arsenal’s FA Cup final clash against Hull City on Saturday, May 17.
