Forlan backs Suarez for Real

SUAREZ-TRAIN-URUGUAY Diego Forlan has given his full backing to fellow Uruguay striker Luis Suarez regarding his proposed move from Liverpool to Real Madrid.

Forlan knows all about the pressure of playing for Europe’s elite, having played for the likes of Manchester United, Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan.

And he believes La Celeste team-mate Suarez would thrive at Madrid, and that the move would help him make a strong case as one of the best in the game.

“He is one of the best in the world,” the 35-year-old said in an interview with AS. “He is very good. There are some big attacking players and you can name Luis as one of them.

“He is alongside (Lionel) Messi, Cristiano (Ronaldo), (Zlatan) Ibrahimovic. All are huge and to choose between one or the other is a matter of taste.

“Without a doubt (he would be hit at Madrid). I tell you – he is one of the best. He is a player who is in great physical and footballing condition and could very well play for Real Madrid,” he added.

Suarez sat out Uruguay’s opening match against Costa Rica because of a knee injury, but returned to haunt England and scored on either side of a Wayne Rooney tap-in to give his side a vital 2-1 win.
