Wenger denies Balotelli interest

BALOTELLI-MANAUS LONDON, June 25- Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger insists there is no truth in claims he is working on a deal to bring Mario Balotelli back to the Premier League.

The Italy international has been strongly linked with a return to England, where he previously helped Manchester City to the top-flight title in 2012 before joining AC Milan the following year.

However, Wenger has now moved to end any and all speculation regarding his supposed interest in Balotelli, whose Italy were knocked out of the World Cup on Tuesday following the 1-0 loss to Uruguay.

When asked whether the forward was part of the Gunners’ off-season transfer plans, Wenger told belN Sport: “No. No, that’s pure invention.

“We cannot believe absolutely everything that is on the internet or is in newspapers.

“Sometimes it’s created by agents or by press who needs news. But in that case, it’s not true.”

The news leaves Arsenal fans unsure of where the manager will now turn to in a bid to strengthen their threadbare striking options, with reported target Carlos Vela having signed a new four-year deal with Real Sociedad on Tuesday.
