NAIROBI, Kenya, July 25- Kenya will have to wait longer for her first Glasgow Commonwealth Games (CWG) medal when the man who opened the gold rush in Delhi, India from the pool, Jason Dunford’s men 50m butterfly title defence ended at the semis on Friday.
Dunford swam 24.03 to finish fifth and although he was ranked the tenth fastest of the round, he could not nail one of the eight slots for the final.
He went faster in faster in Thursday’s heats where he clocked 23.76 to qualify for the semis after finishing second in his race.
The US based swimmer still has the 100m freestyle and 100m butterfly events to contest despite the disappointment of surrendering the title he won in India where he made history as the first Kenyan CWG gold winner outside athletics and boxing.
