LONDON, July 4- FIFA’s disciplinary chief has confirmed Luis Suarez is eligible to undergo a medical ahead of his proposed transfer to Spanish giants Barcelona.
The Uruguay international was recently handed a four-month ban from all football related activities after being found guilty of biting Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini in a World Cup encounter.
The ban prohibits Suarez from attending training or setting foot in a football stadium, but not from making a transfer to a new club.
Claudio Sulser, head of FIFA’s disciplinary committee, said: “The player cannot have any activity related to football, but a medical examination for a transfer yes – the sanction is not linked to transfer rights.”
The Reds and Barca are currently locked in transfer negotiations, with the Premier League club said to be holding out for a transfer fee of around £80m.
