The winger was forced to watch the Brazil showpiece from his couch after failing to earn a place in Didier Deschamps’ 23-man squad, despite having been highly impressive for the Citizens during their Premier League-winning campaign last term.
And, the 27-year-old is now expected to bring the curtain down on his Les Bleus career, having also missed out on the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
Nasri, who has 41 caps and five goals for his country, said: “I’ve made the decision. I made it a while ago but I will announce it when the time is right.
“It’s not something you can just announce on Twitter. I have to sit down and do a full interview and just say it. I will do it when the time is right.”
He continued: “Even before the summer, during Euro 2012 I had a lot going on. Personally, it doesn’t affect me but it affects my family. They live in France, they read the press stuff.
“I live in England so I’m fine with everything they say [in France] and I’m used to it. But for my parents it’s really hard. I want to make them happy and the national team doesn’t make me happy.”
