LvG: United players to learn fate this week

VAN-GAAL-STATES LONDON, August 4- Louis van Gaal says Manchester United’s players will learn their fate when they return from their pre-season tour of the United States this week.

The Dutchman is set to wield the axe at Old Trafford as he looks to build a squad capable of challenging for the Premier League title, having inherited a side who finished in seventh under David Moyes last season.

The likes of Javier Hernandez, Shinji Kagawa, Wilfried Zaha, Marouane Fellaini and Anderson are among those expected to be dropped by Van Gaal, although any decision will only be made upon the team’s return to Manchester.

Speaking ahead of Monday’s International Champions Cup final against Liverpool, Van Gaal said: “I shall make judgements after the tour. I have let all the players play so I know now more than I did before.

“But in football, you have to judge. Always, you have to give a chance to a player to make a transfer when you see that his perspective is not so high to play.

“You have to say it in advance. When you say it on August 31st, it’s too late. I shall say to the players what I think after the tour.”
