Ministry to conduct baby care hospital program with private sector

Pampers-at-St.-Mary's-Hospi

As Kenya rushed to achieve the Millennium Development Goal 5 on Health, The Ministry of Medical Services has entered into a private-public partnership with Procter & Gamble to conduct the Pampers baby-care hospital program in healthcare facilities across the country. Launched in 2011, the program aims to reach and educate mothers who delivered at home and have children aged less than 12 months.

The hospital programme will see the mothers educated about the benefits of diapering, immunization, vaccinations, skin care tips as well as breastfeeding which are all crucial to the wellbeing of babies. The program will be conducted by trained Kenya registered nurses who will provide this information as well as answer any questions raised by the mothers. The program aims to reach 300,000 mothers in rural Kenya before June 2015.
