The 27-year-old joined the west London outfit in the final days of the recent transfer window, having previously been linked with a move to Liverpool and Arsenal.
Having seen a proposed switch to the Reds fall through due to problems with his medical, it appeared that Remy would remain at Loftus Road for the foreseeable future, an idea that he was not completely against.
However, with Fernando Torres joining AC Milan on a two-year loan, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho was on the lookout for another striker, and made a move for Remy – one the former Marseilles man couldn’t say no to.
“Being at Chelsea is the perfect response to my critics,” Remy is quoted as saying by The People.
“Many thought I’d fall into obscurity by joining QPR, but look at me now.
“I always try to make the best decisions for my career. I’ve come a long way from all my problems and that is not down to luck but hard work.
“My strength is that I know where I want to go and make the effort to get there.
“When the chance comes up to join a club like Chelsea you can’t say no. The deal was done late in the evening. I was prepared to stay at QPR but I didn’t hesitate for a second when Chelsea came along.
“I know I won’t start out as first-choice striker at Chelsea, but nothing is set in stone. I have my aims.
“I didn’t sign for them in order to sit on the bench. I will try to improve as much as I can alongside their great players, and the rest will happen naturally.”
The France international will now look to see off competition from Diego Costa and Didier Drgoba for a spot in Mourinho’s line-up.
