Single women longing for the thrill of a wedding without a groom have a chance to do so after a Japanese travel company launched a “Solo Weddings” service.
Cera Travel of Kyoto is offering unique solutions to women seeking the romance of a marriage ceremony without actually tying the knot.
The company offers a two-day trip and a sleep-over in a fancy hotel on the D-day. Brides get complete wedding dress fittings, bouquets of choice, hair makeup, make up and a choice of men for a photo shoot.
“All details are taken care of by wedding professionals and for those who don’t want a traditional white wedding dress, we offer our Geisha service, which sees the brides going on an historical photo shoot dressed up as Geishas,” a spokesman from the company said.
The company says it is a unique experience catering for those who want to pursue careers and not follow local wedding arrangements. Ten women have already enjoyed the experience and one of them, who spoke to International Business Times, said it was amazing.
“I’ve been in a relationship for years but we’ve never got round to actually getting married. So I decided to do this for myself and it was amazing fun. I always wanted to wear a wedding dress and to be pampered like this and now I have been. It was great,” said 43-year-old Nagi Daisen.
