>>> Tusker awarded bottled Muhoroni tie

TUSKER-BANDARI NAIROBI, Kenya, October 23 – Tusker FC Kenyan Premier League (KPL) title hopes are still on course after they were awarded their abandoned match against Muhoroni Youth by a 2-0 victory margin on Thursday.

While issuing the verdict of the tie which aborted in the 77th minute after Muhoroni accused Tusker of fielding 12 players, KPL declared match officials’ reports indicated the latter forced the premature end by refusing to re-start play contrary to Rule 3.7 on abandoned matches.

KPL boss Jack Oguda added referee Andrew Juma performed his duties accordingly under FIFA Law 3 when he cautioned Tusker defender Dennis Nzomo who entered the pitch without his authority to replace Clifford Alwanga.

“Law 3 states if a substitute or substituted player enters the field of play without the referee’s permission, the referee stops play (although not immediately if the substitute or substituted player does not interfere with play).

“The referee then cautions him for unsporting behavior and orders him to leave the field of play. If the referee has stopped play, it is restarted with an indirect free kick for the opposing team from the position of the ball at the time of the stoppage,” the ruling explained.

Muhoroni have a right of appeal to the Independent Disciplinary and Appeals Committee within two working days upon payment of the applicable fee.

By the time of the stoppage; the Brewers were leading 2-1 courtesy of Brian Osumba and Alwanga while Ezekiel Otuoma had pulled one back for Muhoroni.

The outcome saw Tusker who are third on 48 points trim Sofapaka’s gap in second to two; six adrift leaders and champions Gor Mahia who will retain the title if they beat closest challengers on Sunday in Machakos.
