>>> Gor shift Ushuru title decider to Kisumu

GOR-WASEKAO NAIROBI, Kenya, November 4 – Champions Gor Mahia have moved their title decider against struggling Ushuru FC to Kisumu’s Moi Stadium on security grounds.

Club Secretary General Chris Omondi confirmed the development, saying they are avoiding a repeat of what happened in Machakos a fortnight ago where a section of their fans went on rampage including a steward alleged to be on their payroll who invaded the pitch to punch Sofapaka custodian David Okello.

“We have learned some people are planning to spoil our last game and cause the same scenes as we witnessed in Machakos. We have therefore decided to shift our match to Kisumu and we are in the process of informing KPL,” the Secretary General told Capital Sport Tuesday.

The shift will see the Green Army return the lake side city that they fondly refer to as ‘dala’ (home) just a week after their side cruised past Muhoroni Youth 3-1, leaving them a win against Ushuru to successfully defend the title.

The decider was initially scheduled for their Nairobi’s City Stadium home ground where they are yet to lose a match this season.

City does not have good memories for K’Ogalo after Thika United spoiled their party when they were about to clinch their first title in 17 years on the final day of the 2012 season when they held them 1-1 to leave Tusker whom they were leading by two points to defend the title after they beat City Stars.

If they emerge victorious Gor will be handed the trophy at the city where they draw massive support.
