>>> Rooney ready for hostile Scots

ROONEY-SLOVENIA Wayne Rooney has told England’s youngster to expect nothing less than a hostile atmosphere when they take on Scotland in a friendly international at Celtic Park on Tuesday.

The Three Lions striker has previous experience of the venue, having played against Celtic for Manchester United, while he has also been a spectator for several of the Hoops’ matches.

And Rooney, who marked his 100th international cap with a goal against Slovenia in Euro 2016 qualifying action at the weekend, has looked to help prepare the squad for what promises to be a thunderous Scotland crowd.

“You don’t realise until you actually play there what the atmosphere is like,” he said.

“The atmosphere was great when I was in the crowd, unbelievable, but you don’t realise until you’re on that pitch what it’s like so maybe a few of them, you might need to speak to them and say: ‘Listen, this is going to be hostile. Make sure you blank it out, relax, and play your normal game. Don’t get involved in it’.”

Rooney added: “Scotland are doing well at the minute. They seem to have found a bit of form under Gordon Strachan, so we know it’ll be a tough game.”
