>>> United simply not good enough- Carrick

SMALLING-ARSE LONDON, November 4-Michael Carrick admits his Manchester United have been nowhere near good enough this season, but believes they can turn their form around.

Following their 1-0 defeat to Manchester City in the derby at the weekend, Louis Van Gaal has taken fewer points in his first 10 games than David Moyes did in his ill-fated spell last season.

With just 13 points in the league so far, the Red Devils are 13 points behind current league leaders Chelsea.

Despite the poor start to the campaign, Carrick is confident that United are on the right track and will get better as the season goes on.

“We look at our points total and we’re bitterly disappointed with the amount of points we’ve got,” Carrick was quoted as saying on FourFourTwo.

“It’s nowhere near good enough for where we want to be.

“But if you look deeper than that there are certainly signs that we’re still going to have a good season.

“There are just little things that maybe aren’t going for us and we’re making little errors but I think overall the feeling is that we’re still building to be successful and I think we will be.

“I think you get a feeling within a squad and sense around the place and it’s positive that we’re going in the right direction and we’re not far off being back to where we want to be.

“But we’re experienced enough to know that points are what you are judged on.”
