>>> Robben: Van Gaal improves players

ROBBEN-ALONSO LONDON, March 9- Bayern Munich forward Arjen Robben says he enjoyed working under Louis van Gaal at Bayern Munich and believes he will be a success at Manchester United.

Robben excelled during Louis van Gaal’s tenure in Munich, as well as for Holland at the World Cup, leading many to believe he would follow his mentor to United.

“From the first day he made me feel important,” Robben told the Daily Mail.

“He gave me an important role and I had a great first year. I am very thankful to him. He is a coach who makes individual players better. That is rare nowadays.”

The winger went on to explain the Red Devils must be patient and give Van Gaal’s plans time to take root at the club.

“I have a lot of confidence he will be a success,” he added.

“He needs time to build his team. When he qualifies for the Champions League – and he has a realistic chance of winning the FA Cup – if that happens, he has had a great season.”

Robben was heavily linked with a move to United at the beginning of the season but nothing concrete ever materialised.

He admits that life is too good in Munich for him to consider moving anywhere else, but things might have been different if his situation hadn’t been so positive.

“The life I have with my family is so good, the team has been successful.

“If things were not going so well, maybe [joining United] would be the first option, but he knows I am happy.”
