Eng. Onyango won against other aspirants including South and West Africa. He was elected at the just concluded third General Assembly meeting in Barcelona

KISUMU, Kenya, Sept 23 – Monday, 21 September 2015: Kisumu Water and Sewerage Company Managing Director Eng. David Onyango has been elected to the board of The Global Water Operators Partnership Alliance (GWOPA). GWOPA is a UN-Habitat body promoting improvement of water services in the world. Eng. Onyango will represent African water operators for the next four years.

Eng. Onyango won against other aspirants including South and West Africa. He was elected at the just concluded third General Assembly meeting in Barcelona that took place last week from September 16 to 18. The Assembly brought together over 85 countries spread all over Africa, Latin America and Caribbean, Asia and Pacific, Europe and North America.

This is a win for Kenya as the country now have a place in the global platform and a voice for the Africa continent regarding water issues.

GWOPA was formed in 2006 out of a recommendation of the Hashimoto action plan launched in March 2004 by UN Advisory board on Water and Sanitation as a global mechanism to promote exchange of ideas and skills between water utilities to improve experience and expertise.
