This was boosted by a 21.5 percent increase in transactions per customer to 19.98 percent in the first half of 2015 compared to 16.44 percent recorded same period last year.
The average value per transaction however reduced by 2.5 percent to Sh2,551.68 per customer.
Standard Investment Bank Research anticipates continued growth as more products and services are loaded onto the mobile platforms as the mobile space continues to attract attention both for payment processing and money transfers.
Value of card payments in the period under review grew by 4.2 percent to Sh654.7billion.
Within the period, value of debit card payments grew by 6.9 percent to account for 98.3 percent of total card payments made in the period compared to 95.7 percent in the first half of 2014.
This was on the back of a 36.8 percent increase in average value per transaction to Sh5,823.45 in the period under review.
On the other hand, ATM cards became less popular as the number of transactions declined 78 percent and value of payments done through them slumped 77.9 percent to account for 0.7 percent of card payments down from 3.5 percent in the first half of 2014.
Credit cards payments which made just 0.9 percent of card payments grew 33 percent.
This was assisted by a 19.7 percent increase in credit card transactions as well as an 11.1 percent increase in average value per transaction to Sh7, 687.98.
