NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 11- Kenya Power has apologized to both the National Assembly and the Senate over power blackout last weekend which lasted for three days.

The national power distributor says the power was disconnected due to errors in the bill remittances which also affected other institutions apart from the Parliament Buildings.

“We wish to bring to the attention of the public that there was a systems error which inadvertently affected remittance of electricity bills in October,” Kenya Power Customer Services Division said in the dailies on Sunday.

“This resulted into a disconnection of various institutions, including the National Assembly, the Senate and other individual account holders on October 2, 2015.The power disconnection may have affected the functioning of parliament.”

The power disconnection which was a rear occurrence led to speculation of existence of huge bills despite Parliamentary Service Commission announcing that it had paid Sh5.4 million a few days before disconnection on October 2.

Kenya Power has also apologized to other institutions affected by the said hiccup.

“We take this opportunity to apologise to parliament and all other affected institutions and individuals for the inconvenience caused,” Kenya Power added
