NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 11 – Regional retailer, Nakumatt Holdings, has been named the OLX Social Media Award winner, in the Retail services sector.

Nakumatt, beat a strong field of its retail peers to claim the tightly contested title on Saturday night at the Kasarani Stadium.

Speaking, moments after receiving the award, Nakumatt Holdings Regional Strategy and Operations Director, Thiagarajan Ramamurthy, dedicated the award to the retailer’s staff, customers and partners for their continued support.

The retailer, he said will continue deploying digital and social media platforms to enhance its customer experience.

Already, Nakumatt, he disclosed has revamped its corporate website www.nakumatt.net which will now act as an experiential blog aptly branded as Nakumatt Life.

“At Nakumatt, we are humbled by such awards which reflect the trust bestowed upon us by thousands of our staff, customers, suppliers and other partners,” Ramamuthy, said.

“This SoMA award, also reminds us to avoid being complacent and strive to exceed our customer experience standards for the better.”

Now on its third edition, the annual, OLX social media awards is driven by the users of different social media networks who interact with different personalities, brands and organizations on a daily basis.

The users are given an opportunity to nominate different personalities, brands and organizations according to predetermined categories.

This year, the theme for the awards was guided by the impact of social media on economic empowerment. Hence, recognizing personalities, brands, and organizations that have made a positive impact to the economy of the country through social media.
