Orange subscribers to browse more with new data offers

MOBILE-PHONE-SILHOUETTENAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 6 – Orange Telkom Kenya has revised its data offering for its pre-paid Internet on Mobile and Internet Everywhere subscribers (modem users).

With the new plan, Orange’s four million mobile subscribers will be able to purchase new data bundles of 400 MB and 1GB at Sh250 and Sh500 respectively under the Internet on Mobile offer.

Modem users on the other hand will also enjoy the 400MB and 2GB offers at Sh250 and Sh1,000 respectively.

Additionally, Internet Everywhere subscribers will have access to 25GB and 50GB bundles suitable for heavy consumers that cost Sh5,750 and Sh6,750 respectively.

“Both data plans will also enjoy extended validity periods of up to 90 days from the previous 30 days on both data plans,” said the company’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, George Mlaghui.

Internet on Mobile subscribers can therefore access the new data bundles by dialling #123#, select ‘option 3’ and then ‘2’ for offers from their Internet enabled phones. Additionally, customers can access the services through the telco’s app or by logging onto its website.

Orange is also offering unlimited Internet on both Internet on Mobile and Internet Everywhere with doubled Fair Usage Policy (FUP) for both offers. Daily Unlimited will now be 200MBs up from 100MBs, weekly unlimited will move up to 1GB from 500MB and monthly unlimited will move up to 3GB from 2GB. The FUP ensures that service quality remains at optimum levels at all times to our customers.

The revision was done after the company carried out a market research to determine current customer needs.

“Longer validity periods and affordable offers stood out from the feedback we received hence we tailored the offers to suit this trend,” adds Mlaghui.

This comes at the back of the telco’s rise in the total number of subscribers which stood at 2.6 million during this past quarter up from 2.4 million posted during the previous quarter.

Additionally, Orange has recorded improvement in its mobile data market share having recorded 14 percent market share in its last quarter up from 13 percent from the previous quarter.
