NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 16 – Airtel Kenya has embarked on strategic restructuring that will reposition the business and reinforce its competitiveness in the market place.

The exercise, which is focused on aligning the company’s structure with its operating model, entails right-sizing that impacted 60 members of our current workforce.

“One of the key objectives is to create a high performing organisation, which satisfies the needs of all of our stakeholders, especially our customers, as we step into the next growth phase of our operation,” Airtel kenya CEO Adil El Youssefi said.

He explained that Airtel was sensitive towards the affected staff and remained committed to minimizing the impact of the move on the employees.

“As a way of helping the affected staff members during the transition, the company is compensating above what is prescribed by the prevailing laws. Airtel Kenya has contracted a reputable organization to offer job search services and provide the training that they would need to find new opportunities. The company will meet the full cost of this support.”

He said Airtel remains committed to the Kenyan market with significant investments of over Sh20 billion to drive innovation, network quality and customer service delivery over the next two years.

The company also supports the youth in education through its CSR program that offers free internet to schools, having covered over 160 schools and 220,000 students all over Kenya.
