Suarez to have surgery

SUAREZ-HANDBALL LONDON, England, May 22- According to reports, Liverpool and Uruguay striker Luis Suarez’s World Cup participation is in doubt after he suffered a knee injury.


The 27-year-old is believed to have injured his knee during a training session with the national team and will undergo keyhole surgery on Thursday to repair a damaged meniscus.


An injury of this nature usually requires a recovery period of between 15 and 20 days.


Uruguay begin their World Cup campaign on June 14 with a clash against Costa Rica.
