Nakuru Town West MP Samuel Arama denies graft claims, terms Ababu Namwamba’s tape as fake

Nakuru, Kenya: Nakuru Town West MP Samuel Arama has claimed that the tape produced by Budalang'i MP Ababu Namwamba is fake and denied that one of the voices captured is his.Arama came out fighting and accused the embattled Public Accounts Chairman of trying to divert public attention after being cornered following the corruption allegations bedevilling him. Speaking in Nakuru Town, the MP said that he had not met Namwamba or Cord Leader Raila Odinga to discuss the issue and claimed the tape was a 'river road fabrication'He accused Namwamba of trying to blackmail PAC members, who wanted to eject him from the chairmanship of the key parliamentary watch dog committee, after they took him to task over corruption.Arama said the ODM Secretary General was dragging his name into the corruption allegations after he refused to assist him when committee members wanted to remove him from the chairmanship."His are the last kicks of a dying horse. He kept calling me when PAC members were collecting signatures to remove him pleading that I assist him but I kept telling him to go and prove that he had not received a bribe. May be that’s why he is implicating me," the ODM MP said.
He accused Namwamba of mischief and questioned why he only availed the tape after being accused of corruption.
The MP said Namwamba should have informed anti-corruption agencies of the corruption allegations among MPs instead of 'purporting to conduct investigations after being exposed’.
